Position Description: The assistant will collaborate with the secondary music teacher to support the ensemble in whole group, sectionals, and/or individuals with specific tasks

V. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the music teacher and assist the ensemble in whole group, sectionals, and/or individuals with specific tasks including but not limited to teaching/assessing pitch, rhythm, fingerings, music theory, music vocabulary, posture, embouchure, and ear training.
- Assist with daily procedures in the classroom, including sheet music organization, scanning, bar coding, instrument checkin and checkout, rehearsals and assessments.
- Provide additional help sessions for sections and/or for individual students inside and outside of class time, for self-identified and teacher-assigned extra help.
- Update, organize, and maintain the sheet music & textbook inventory.
- Assist with extra curricular programs and special performances such as the AMIS, SAISA, and ASIAC rehearsals/auditions, student performing committees, solo recitals, assembly performances, etc.
- Attend festivals as an accompanist and/or chaperone, as needed.
- Monitor practice rooms during and after school when needed for student liability and offers technical and musical support to students and music clubs, e.g. Jazz Band, Rock band.
- Use and/or interest in learning to use appropriate specialized music technology tools and digital software to create rehearsal tracks, custom scores, quality recordings for student portfolio artifacts, festival auditions, composition projects, performances, rehearsals, etc.
- Write and transcribe customized scores for MS & HS band and instrument ensembles.
- Performs regular instrument and technical maintenance (wind instruments, percussion instruments, pianos, keyboards), including standard oiling/greasing, stocking cases with consumables, etc.
- Serve as an on-call substitute for band/instrumental teacher.
VI. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- BA/BS or equivalent
- Experience working with students
- Proficiency with at least two of the following:
- Piano
- Woodwinds
- Brass
- Percussion
- Training available in all these areas for someone who demonstrates aptitude.
