POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Provide one-on-one and small group in-class and learning center support for students on Individualized Learning Plans. Duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  1. Provide a positive, nurturing environment for students.
  2. Advocate for students and build advocacy in students, particularly those with learning and behavior needs, by ensuring that they have access to the necessary resources and accommodations. 
  3. Utilize de-escalation techniques to help students regain control of their emotions when they are dysregulated. 
  4. Contribute to the collection and analysis of data on student growth and behavior.
  5. Modify resources and activities to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
  6. Assist students individually or in small groups, including reinforcing topics taught by the teacher, providing additional explanations, or providing extra skill practice. 
  7. Participate in professional learning to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
  8. Perform various administrative tasks to support the Learning Support Team.
  9. Communicate and collaborate regularly with the Learning Support Team and teachers to provide updates on student progress, behavior, and any concerns or issues that arise. 
  10. Responsible for safeguarding student records and information and respecting students' privacy rights in all communications and interactions.
  11. Implement behavior management strategies, model appropriate behavior, and foster a positive learning environment.
