POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
AISC coaches are responsible for ensuring that all instructional and assessment practices, curriculum development, classroom management, and professional growth align with and contribute to the School’s Mission, Core Values, and Vision for the AISC Learner. Duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with the Office of Teaching and Learning in supporting it’s curricular and program Goals
- Partnering with sectional administration to support sectional goals
- Implementing student-centered coaching models.
- Supporting curriculum development using frameworks like Understanding by Design (UbD) and incorporating principles of UDL (Universal Design for Learning).
- Promoting personalization in instruction to meet the diverse needs and interests of students.
- Engaging in planning, observing, modeling, and co-teaching with teachers.
- Leading and facilitating professional development sessions.
- Supporting the development and execution of school-wide academic and wellbeing initiatives.
- Building collaborative partnerships with teachers to enhance instruction and student learning.
- Assisting teachers in integrating technology to enhance the learning experience.
- Participating in and co-leading parent engagement events.
KNOWLEDGE
Successful AISC coaches are learners. They can demonstrate specific knowledge and understanding and share examples of their growth in the following areas:
- Developmental stages of students.
- Culturally responsive instructional practices.
- Differentiation strategies
- Personalization in learning
- Standards-based assessment and reporting.
- Specific content knowledge relevant to the school’s programs.
- Reflective practices and collaborative planning.
- Wellbeing and social-emotional learning.
SKILLS
AISC coaches can demonstrate specific skills and understanding and share examples of their current practice in the following areas:
- Managing time and multiple projects effectively.
- Effective verbal and written communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Utilizing technology to enhance learning.
- Embedding student voice and choice into instructional practices.
- Designing and facilitating instruction that meets diverse learner needs.
- Actively engaging students through a variety of pedagogical approaches.
- Contributing to school initiatives, community, and culture
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
AISC coaches are expected to demonstrate effectiveness and growth by:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
AISC seeks coaches with appropriate experiences that have helped them develop their knowledge, skills, and talents:
- At least three years of relevant educational experience.
- Teaching credential or equivalent qualification.
- Experience and/or training as a learning/instructional coach or in professional development facilitation.
- A record of continuous professional development and growth.
- Experience working with English as an Additional Language learners.
- Experience in technology-enhanced teaching and learning environments.
