POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

AISC teachers are responsible for ensuring that all instructional and assessment practices, curriculum development, classroom management, and professional growth align with and contribute to the School’s Mission, Core Values, and Vision for the AISC Learner.  

Duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  1. Experience with the following DT disciplinary areas:
    1. Intro to and Advanced Design Technology
    2. Robotics and Electronics
    3. CAD Design
    4. The Design Cycle/process
  2. Experience with resistant materials, including wood, acrylic, styrofoam, etc.
  3. Ability to build and code robots using Arduino controllers and Vex kits.
  4. Instruct on the safe use of hand and power tools, laser cutters, CNC, 3-D Printers, etc.
  5. Instruct use of digital design tools including Adobe Illustrator, SketchUp, Fusion 360, etc.
  6. Methods, materials, tools, concepts and effective assessment in the areas of:
    1. Design Technology
    2. The Design Cycle/process
    3. Collaborating with colleagues to integrate technology and engineering into STEAM projects
  7. Facilitating the development of disciplinary and interdisciplinary design practices.
  8. Ability to supervise and empower a Teaching Assistant.
  9. Demonstrate skill in adapting and expanding curriculum, including interdisciplinary projects, and Project-Based Learning (PBL) approaches in collaboration with colleagues.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

AISC seeks teachers with appropriate experiences that have helped them develop their knowledge, skills, and talents:

  1. At least three years of relevant experience
  2. Teaching credential
  3. A record of continued professional growth 
  4. Experience working with English as Additional Language learners
  5. Experience teaching and learning in a technology-integrated environment
  6. Experience in leading co-curricular activities
