Position Description
|
The Information and Data Systems Director has broad oversight of operational systems, data visualization, and overall data effectiveness. This person must understand our database tools at a deep level, as well as understand how to transform data into action or insight in order to further our school Mission. The role involves maintaining a strong working relationship with the Office of Teaching and Learning, Admissions, Business, Advancement, Communications, Security, and the Senior Leadership Team to develop assessment, reporting, and data tools that support teaching, learning, and school operations. Creating these tools will also be a focus of the role, so this person must act as a liaison between leadership, faculty, parents and students, and the development teams who design and build solutions. The position also entails communicating strategic plans and results to various stakeholders. This role involves supervisory oversight of the admin support staff in the Information Technology office.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain workflows and systems that optimize our use of Powerschool, Performance Matters, Schoology, Toddle, OpenApply, RaptorNet, and other data systems.
- Work with stakeholders to understand desired outcomes of data systems. Work with the development team to create solutions that meet these outcomes.
- Ensure data systems are maintained, secure, and valid.
- Liaise with support teams for various data systems to problem solve.
- Design visualizations in consultation with faculty and school leadership. Facilitate productive interpretation of data and provide support for understanding statistical frameworks.
- Stay current on educational assessment models, data visualization techniques and tools, and data interoperability technologies.
- Lead regular professional development of key stakeholder groups to promote their ability to gather, structure, analyze, interpret and report data of all types.
- Collaborate with the IT team to promote and support ongoing data privacy and data security initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to craft short and long term strategic budget plans that ensure the ongoing success of our information and data systems and initiatives.
- Supervise the Information and Data team, providing inspiring professional development and supervisory support.
KNOWLEDGE
- In-depth understanding of data management systems, including Powerschool, Seesaw, Schoology, Toddle, OpenApply, and Google tools, with the ability to integrate and optimize their use for school operations.
- Advanced knowledge of data analysis techniques, statistical methods, and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker Studio.
- Familiarity with educational assessment models, learning management systems, and the principles of data interoperability within educational institutions.
- Up-to-date knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices for data security in educational settings.
- Understanding of strategic planning, budgeting processes, and how data-driven decision-making supports institutional goals.
- Experience in stakeholder communication, including translating complex data into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.

- Strong data visualization skills, including the ability to create intuitive and meaningful reports and dashboards that support data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting data-related issues.
- Leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to mentor and support a team in a collaborative environment.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, set timelines, and achieve goals.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments, presenting strategic plans, and providing training on data literacy.
- Ability to translate educational goals into actionable data requirements and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in using data analysis tools, scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python), and APIs to enhance data systems' functionality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
AISC seeks coaches with appropriate experiences that have helped them develop their knowledge, skills, and talents:
- At least three years of relevant educational experience.
- Teaching credential or equivalent qualification.
- Experience and/or training as a learning/instructional coach or in professional development facilitation.
- A record of continuous professional development and growth.
- Experience working with English as an Additional Language learners.
- Experience in technology-enhanced teaching and learning environments.
