POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
AISC teachers are responsible for ensuring that all instructional and assessment practices, curriculum development, classroom management, and professional growth align with and contribute to the School’s Mission, Core Values, and Vision for the AISC Learner.
Duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Visual Arts: Methods, materials, tools, concepts and effective assessment for grades 6-12 in the areas of:
- surface (2-dimensional, including film photography)
- space (3-dimensional), especially ceramics and including contemporary materiality
- new media (4-dimensional), including digital media
- Teaching the use of investigation/process journal to support the creative process
- Understanding both traditional and contemporary artists as well as their processes and practices
- Adapting and expanding curriculum for 21st Century learning and art/design practices.
- Linking with local, regional artists and artisans to support student learning
- Instructing in a Foundations/Studio Model
- Curating student and staff art displays and exhibitions
- Teaching IBDP Visual Arts
- Using digital design tools including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, etc.
- Facilitating the development of disciplinary and transdisciplinary art and design practices.
- Supervising and empowering a Visual Arts Teaching Assistant/Artist

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
AISC seeks teachers with appropriate experiences that have helped them develop their knowledge, skills, and talents:
- At least three years of relevant experience
- Teaching credential
- A record of continued professional growth
- Experience working with English as Additional Language learners
- Experience teaching and learning in a technology-integrated environment
- Experience in leading co-curricular activities
